All the Earth is Sacred

The other day I was outside, and needed to clean a small empty sprayer that had residue of what I thought to be a very mild insecticide. I looked for where to do this – to find a space between trees where there was little vegetation so as to minimize the impact. As I looked as to where to do this, I realized that there was no place – no place on the earth – where the effect of what we do does not matter. In the small area of the woods I was looking at, any space between two trees, or three trees or more – is in its own way a sacred space.

I saw a particular area in the middle of several trees, and I asked within, and asked the trees, if it was alright for me to clean the sprayer in that spot. I felt inwardly that it was alright, and so I did. What was left with me, from this experience, was a deeper knowing that All the Earth is Sacred – everwhere, every part, no exceptions. As we grow to understand this, and live according to this, the state of the Earth will change, and heal.

(note: I found that the product that I was cleaning out, was mineral oil, likely minimally or not toxic. Yet no matter what we return to the earth, that we have borrowed and made use of, it must be something that the Earth can receive back, and can process in a healthy way back through its body. Anything else, we need to learn to not use in the first place, and/or find alternatives that the Earth can process without harm).
