"WE CAN'T GO THROUGH THIS ALONE" - Syrians fleeing war, Greek people coming to rescue

"THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE. WE CAN'T GO THROUGH THIS ALONE."

This is what someone said, cried out.... on this heart-rending video on refugees trying to be rescued from the sea between Turkey and Greece.



HERE, In This Country: Our Hearts Must Remain Open. We Must Not Allow Our Hearts To Have Borders. The World And Its Greater Needs Calls Us.

Our hearts need to be open, not closed; the answers to the problems of our country and the world is not to isolate, close down our borders, or shut down the welcoming of refugees. Some would do this and the Trump administration is pursuing this, because of the fear of the "other", or of "others" taking away form this country's resources, a fear that many people have, and a fear that has been fanned...

All people in the world have the right to "life, liberty, and and the pursuit of happiness". Our truer nature as a nation is one of openness, not closedness; of generosity of heart because it is the right thing to do, not self-protection without regard to the welfare of others; of turning ourselves and our hearts toward the needs of the world, not away from the needs of the world.

The America I know and believe in turns toward the world and says "We are here to help. There is enough that all can live. We can and we will find ways to do this. Together". The deeper America I know, knows that we are One World: interdependent, interreliant, committed, connected, caring, and willing.

May we turn our ship of America, in the direction of helping where the needs is greatest, doing our part as country - as we have a great deal to bring, and to give to the world. We are needed. Our love, our care, our help and service, is needed.

We all thrive, when we all help one another. Let us turn toward the need wherever it is. Never away. This is America's deepest heart.
