Earlier this week, the Bahrain high court
denied the appeals of dissident and opposition leaders who participated
in demonstrations in that country during the “Arab Spring”. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/08/world/middleeast/court-in-bahrain-confirms-jail-terms-for-13-dissidents.html?_r=0
Although I don’t know the particulars of the cases, I pray for these
people, for their safety and well being, and that they feel upheld
within themselves for the values of justice and freedom that I believe
must be at the root of their protest and speaking out. I pray for the
people of Bahrain whose needs and rights are neglected. I pray that
other countries, including the United States, exert pressure on the
Bahrain government, on behalf of the natural rights of people to express
their grievances without the risk of being charged, mistreated, or
jailed for the right of self expression.
I invite our prayers on behalf of all who seek freedom and justice, for all.
